How much does a portrait cost?
I offer three sizes in three price tiers.
Mini
$300
A pet portrait approximately 1.5 inches square, surrounded by a wreath. The whole portrait is framed in a 5 inch hoop.
Medium
$800
Approximately 3-4 inches high, framed in a 6-7 inch hoop. The image is about the size of your palm.
Full
$1300
A portrait 5 inches or more high, framed in a 7-8 inch hoop. The image is about the size of your hand.
Why is your work so expensive?
I’ve found these prices to be a good balance between making it worth the time I invest in each portrait and being within my clients’ budgets.
How does the process work?
Let’s chat
Before we do anything, we’ll talk about what you want. Some things to consider:
- I’ll need a clear photo of your pet to work from. It should be taken in indirect lighting. Pick a photo that you love, and that shows your pet as you’d like to remember them!
- How big of a portrait are you looking for?
- What color background would you like? If you’re unsure, I’m happy to help you decide!
- Do you have anything else you’d like included in the portrait? For example, floral decor or the pet’s name.
- Do you have a deadline, like a birthday or Christmas, that you need the finished work by?
We sign a contract
Once we’ve figured out what you’d like, I have a standard contract to sign that protects both of us. It’ll specify exactly what you’ll get, and when you’ll receive it by.
I request half of the payment upfront and half upon completion. I won’t charge you anything until I begin your project.
I get to sewin’
The sewing process generally takes two to three months, or perhaps fifty hours in total. Because I have a day job, I usually sew an hour or two each evening.
I’m happy to send as many or as few progress photos as you’d like. Let’s also discuss whether or not you’re OK with photos being posted to social media (are you trying to keep this a surprise?)
You receive your finished portrait!
After you send the second half of the payment, I’ll mail the finished portrait to you. I’d love a photo of it in its new home!
